Cookie Policy

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that the sites visited by users send to their terminals, where they are stored before being re-transmitted to the same sites on the next visit. The cookies of the so-called “third parties”, on the other hand, are set by a website other than the one the user is visiting. This is because on each site there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than that of the site visited.

What are cookies used for

Cookies are used for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, session monitoring, storage of information on specific configurations regarding users who access the server, storage of preferences, etc.

What are “technical” cookies

These are cookies that are used to browse or provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner.

Without the use of these cookies, some operations could not be carried out or would be more complex and / or less secure, such as home banking activities (viewing the account statement, bank transfers, bill payment, etc.), for such as cookies, which allow the identification of the user to be made and maintained within the session, are indispensable.

It is possible to identify 3 types of technical cookies:

– Navigation or session cookies: “guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas)”;

– Analytics cookies: “similar to technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site”;

– Functional cookies: “allow the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria (for example, the language, the products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided”;

What are “profiling” cookies

These are cookies used to track the user’s navigation on the network and create profiles on his tastes, habits, choices, etc. With these cookies, advertising messages can be transmitted to the user’s terminal in line with the preferences already expressed by the same user while browsing online.

How delete cookies

All browsers have specific functions to block and delete cookies:

Block third party cookies

Third-party cookies are generally not essential for browsing, so you can reject them directly in the banner containing the brief information or, by default, through specific functions of your browser.

Activate the Do Not Track option

The Do Not Track option is present in most of the latest generation browsers. Websites designed to respect this option, when activated, should automatically stop collecting some of your browsing data. As mentioned, however, not all websites are set up to respect this option (discretionary).

Activate the “anonymous browsing” mode

Using this function you can browse without leaving a trace in the browser of the browsing data. The sites will not remember you, the pages you visit will not be stored in the history and the new cookies will be deleted.

 The anonymous browsing function does not however guarantee anonymity on the Internet, because it only serves not to keep browsing data in the browser, while your browsing data will continue to remain available to website managers and connectivity providers.

Delete cookies directly

There are special functions to do this in all browsers. However, remember that new cookies are downloaded every time you connect to the Internet, so the deletion operation should be performed periodically. If desired, some browsers offer automated systems for the periodic deletion of cookies.

To find out how to disable / delete cookies and how to set the management rules for your browser, please read the documentation on the page relating to your browser.
